Sculptures

Antony gormley
I really like the way antony gormley works
I have been using jenny saville as a visual referance of abstract art and tryed making a sculptor out of clay. Below is a couple of images
Here i have tryed to use jenny savilles work and change it from 2D to 3D by making a scultor I dont really like working with clay as I would rather work 2D. As i am not good at 3d. I left the main features out and just tryed to get the shape of the body.

I have also looked at russ mills work that I have painted and tryed to make the brus strokes more 3D,I found this really hard.

Textiles-Skins

I started off by doing a mind map of what type of skins there is and what I could use. I started of by doing animal skin but the majority of my class are doing animals so I thought I would keep it simple and go for human skin. Before researching further into human skin I did a little bit of research on paint.
Here are a couple of images I found within my research

I really like the effect of the paint that has dried and peeled off.

Research into human skin:
I researched into human skin and I found two that I liked which were dry and oily.

After doing this I researched further into it and products that people use on skin.
I came u with a range of ideas such as:
  • Face masks
  • Makeup
  • Fake tan
  • Face paint
I really liked the idea of face paint so I went on and painted some faces. This image is just half a painted face I did a rainbow.
Here is a group pf people whos faces i painted i painted them the day of the dead doll style.

After doing these faces I feel I wouldnt be able to take it any further and extend on it so I decided to look at other things on skin like tattoos.
Henna tattoos

I have looked into henna tattoos and found out that henna also refers to the dye prepared from the plant and the art of temporary tattooing based on those dyes. Henna is used to due skin, hair and fingernails, as well a fabrics.
Here below I have done some henna tattoos on my hand.

Before tattooing if the tattoo isnt being done free hand the tattooist carbons a drawing up. This is done by getting a picture of the tattoo and tracing it onto tracing paper then getting some carbon paper and put it underneath the tracing paper with the blue side up  then draw back over the image and when youve drawn around it all if you lift the tracing paper up it will have blue/black in on the other side.
This image below shows the blue/black ink that is ready to put onto the skin.
After carboning up a drawing you then put either stencil cream or watered down dettol on the skin to clean it and also to make the stencil work and the ink will stick the the cream, if the skin is dry the ink wont transfer. Here I have put the stencil on myself but it didnt turn out very well as i just used water.
I have primary research which is my own tattoos. I have half a sleeve all in black grey white with a twist of red.

After looking at tattoos I thought I could try tattoos on different types of skin and see what works best. Here I have used tattoo practice skin and just done some little doodles

Here are a couple of pictures of me practicing on tattoo practice skin. I wrapped it around an empty bottle because when you tattoo a person their arm/leg ect. isn't flat.
Whilst in the process off tattooing on different skins I put modrock on a mannquin waited for it to dry and then painted it.
After doing this i went on to draw tattoo deaigns onto the mannquin and they are ready to paint.
Here i have carboned up a rose and printed it onto my friends arm after doing this i then coloured it in using sharpies thia is what it looked like after
